PARIS HILTON says when you see her falling out of a club at 3am she’s working hard.
The party-loving heiress even claims she is really quite SHY and hates going out unless she’s being paid for it.
By that reckoning she must be raking in the money from personal appearances ? she always seems to be on the town.
Paris tells me: “If you see pictures of me out I’m being paid. When I turn up at an event it is work.
“People don’t think I am shy ? but I am. When the cameras are on and they are taking pictures then it’s my job.”
I find it hard to believe.
Paris has been living in ? and tearing up ? London for the last two weeks while supposedly doing European promotional duties for her debut album.
She has been out on the lash every single night and the hectic lifestyle has had professional repercussions.
Paris had already cancelled two interviews with me because she was too hungover.
The millionairess, who rose to fame in reality TV show The Simple Life, has now agreed to reschedule and meet me in her hotel suite at the trendy Sanderson Hotel (a rival to The Hilton) at 10am.
But I’m sure it will be cancelled again because she didn’t go to bed until 6am. Eventually she arrives an hour late ? looking deceptively fresh. The massive Dior sunglasses probably help.
She lies and says she was in bed at 3am ? “an early night.”
How does she keep up the caning schedule?
She explains: “I just have lots of energy. And I take lots of catnaps during the day.”
Paris ? arguably the most famous celebrity in the world now ? is polite but retains that rich Californian air of being detached but amused.
She comes across completely differently from how she does in The Simple Life ? much less giggly and more serious.
Paris claims she invented that silly character for the series ? knowing it would be funny.
She says: “Simple Life is a reality show and people might assume it’s real. But it’s fake.
“All reality shows are fake basically. When you have a camera on you, you are not going to act yourself.
“So before I started the show I thought I’d make a character like the movies Legally Blonde and Clueless mixed together, with a rich girl all-in-one.
“Even my voice is different and the way I dress is different from me in real life. It’s a character I like to play. I think it’s carefree and happy. The public think they know me but they really don’t.”
