David Beckham Shatters Young Fans Birthday Dreams

It looks like David Beckham has shattered the dreams of two boys, age 9 and 13 who were told they would meet the soccer star as a birthday gift from their parents. Jeanne Kelly and her sister Diane, the mothers of the boys, both paid $7,000 for a meet and greet with Beckham at a charity event for Charley’s Fund. The event, to raise money for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, was held at the home of Michael Gooch.

Included in the $7,000 packages were round trip flights and a 2 night stay at a hotel in Los Angeles. During the meeting the boys were to receive a jersey autographed by the celebrity. Also promised were VIP seats at Saturday’s Galaxy game.

The shocking news came last Tuesday from Darren Brown of Charity Sports Auctions, stating that David would not be showing up due to a recent security breach.

Brown’s excuse turned out to be totally false. Unfortunately, the two families have not been issued a refund at this point and the boys are said to be crushed.

Beckham’s agent, Jeff Raymond stated that neither David or the Galaxy team were informed about this event and went on to say:

“It’s unfortunate that they lost their money. David would never not honor charity he was supposed to do.”

Hopefully this will all be resolved quickly and the boys will get their happy ending.
