Beckham hails impact of Capello
England midfielder David Beckham says the team is brimming with confidence under Fabio Capello.
The Italian coach has guided England to the top of their World Cup qualifying group with four straight wins.
And ex-skipper Beckham said: "It is definitely the most confident the team has been for a long time.
"I am enjoying the qualifying games and honoured to be involved in a team that's now doing so well and that's playing some great football."
England's 3-1 win in Belarus made it their best ever start to a qualifying campaign.
It is a far cry from England's dismal failure to qualify for Euro 2008 under previous boss Steve McClaren.
The 33-year-old Beckham has come off the bench in all four qualifying games so far.
But the Los Angeles Galaxy star says he is enjoying being part of Capello's squad, who he played under at Real Madrid.
"There's a manager now that knows how to win, not just at Wembley but away from home," he said. "He's very excited about the World Cup - and it's great to be involved in that.
"I worked with him at Madrid for a year so I knew what he is like as a manager and a person. I know what he expects from players and he gets the best out of them.
"There's a seriousness but that has to be there because you are playing for England and on such a big stage.
"He has installed that back into the team and it's important that it stays there because we are getting the right results and we are getting everything we need."
Beckham earned his 107th cap when he was a late substitute for Wayne Rooney in Minsk on Wednesday.
One more appearance for England will see him match Sir Bobby Moore's record for an outfield player.
But the former Manchester United midfielder says the whole squad is totally focused on maintaining their recent success, one game at a time.
"Things are looking bright, though we are still only four games into the new campaign. We are not going to get carried away," he added.
"We will be professional and enjoy each game and hopefully it continues. It's about time the country and the fans had something to look forward to."
