The complete lineup for the 33rd Toronto International Film Festival, which runs September 4-13, has 312 films from 64 countries.

These include 249 feature-length films, 76 per cent of which are world, international or North American premieres, and 61 of which are feature directorial debuts, organizers said.

Among the 500 celebrities expected to attend the event are John Malkovich, Gael Garcia Bernal, Renee Zellweger, Wong Kar Wai and Matt Damon.

Pitt, Malkovich, Tilda Swinton and Oscar-winning filmmakers Ethan and Joel Coen will bring their dark spy-comedy Burn After Reading, while Mark Ruffalo and Julianne Moore will introduce Blindness.

The film roster includes the period comedy Dean Spanley starring Peter O'Toole, Nothing But the Truth with Kate Beckinsale, Alan Alda, David Schwimmer and Angela Bassett, and Gavin O'Connor's Pride and Glory, starring Edward Norton, Colin Farrell, Jon Voight.

An homage to the Big Apple from 12 international filmmakers, entitled New York, I Love You, will screen as part of a special presentation.

Unlike the festivals at Cannes, Berlin or Venice, Toronto is not known for its prizes but rather is seen as the starting gong for the North American film prize season, culminating with Hollywood's Oscar ceremonies.
